Billy Ash from Today’s Business tells us his story of going from launching his company with just $400, and how interns played a big role in staying under budget.
Billy Ash is the co-founder and Chief Digital Officer of Today’s Business, playing a major role in the growth and success of the company since its humble beginnings. Billy got his start in digital marketing in Tampa Bay, Florida, where he attended St. Leo University. After he graduated in 2011, he began working for the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour where he served as their Marketing Manager. While still in Florida, Billy was brought on to be a founding partner and Chief Digital Officer of Today’s Business, bringing him back to his home stomping grounds of northern New Jersey.
When Today’s Business started, the company was focused on networking. Learning as they went, Billy and his partners made necessary changes to monetize and scale the business, looking into social media marketing and management before Facebook was even public. In a perfect storm of the rise of social platforms and digital marketing opportunities, client demand pushed Today’s Business to expand its services to include search engine optimization (SEO), website development, and paid media management services.
Billy is passionate about staying up to date with the latest trends of the digital marketing industry, which helps him and Today’s Business to always be innovative and provide the best possible value to their clients. As Today’s Business began to gain traction, Billy learned a variety of new skill sets in order to offer the best possible product to all clients. Under his and Tom Ottaiano’s leadership – and the guidance of additional business partners and advisors – Today’s Business has grown into one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States.
TB has also developed a powerful internship program and a strong company culture that can be felt by clients and employees alike. Over the first 10 years of the company’s history one of the most important things Billy has learned is the importance of focus. Billy is dedicated to consistently expanding his knowledge and expertise in his field. He is certified in Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Advertising, and a number of other digital marketing and advertising networks. He was recently named NJ Ad Club 40 Under 40, and has led multiple campaigns, which have won the W3 Awards, Davey Awards, and SAM Awards.
